Installed price covers the charger, our standard install (wall mount within a normal cable run of the consumer unit, cable clipped or in trunking, dedicated circuit), DNO notification and the app and tariff set up.

What moves it: the cable run from the consumer unit, whether it clips to a wall or has to go under a drive, and whether the board needs anything doing to it first.

Why the myenergi Zappi

  • True solar diversion

Eco+ charges the car from surplus solar only, down to 1.4 kW, and pauses when a cloud comes over. Eco tops up from the grid to keep a minimum going. Fast is full speed. No other charger we fit does this as well.

  • Part of the myenergi ecosystem

Add an eddi and your surplus heats the hot water before it charges the car; add a libbi battery or harvi wireless sensor and it all shares one app. Ideal for a home we have fitted solar on.

  • Two versions, same brain

The GLO is the 2026 model: screenless, app-only, cheaper and with 35% less embodied carbon. The v2.1 keeps the on-unit display and adds Ethernet. Both are made in Grimsby.

GLO or v2.1, tethered or socket?

Zappi GLO

App-only control over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, tethered 6.5 m or socket. The cheaper of the two, and the one to pick unless you specifically want a display on the wall or a wired network connection.

Zappi v2.1

Colour display on the unit, Wi-Fi plus Ethernet, tethered 6.5 m or socket, and a 22 kW three-phase version for larger properties. The dearer of the two.

If you have solar, or are getting it from us, the Zappi is the charger that makes the most of it, and the eddi pairing is unique. Its weak spots are honest ones: the app scores lowest of the three and there is no 4G. The Hypervolt is the better-looking all-rounder with decent solar charging; the Ohme is the pick for a tariff-only home.

Tariff pairing: solar by day, Intelligent Octopus Go by night

In summer, Eco+ fills the car from the roof for nothing. Overnight, Intelligent Octopus Go tops it up in the cheap windows. On Agile the Zappi reads day-ahead prices and charges in the cheapest slots. With a home battery we set which gets the surplus first.

Questions about the myenergi Zappi.

How much does a Zappi cost installed?

Both are quoted in writing, covering our standard install and VAT at 20%, with the v2.1 the dearer of the two for the display and the wired network. The 22 kW three-phase version is priced on request.

GLO or v2.1?

The GLO is newer, cheaper and app-only. The v2.1 has a screen on the unit and an Ethernet port. The charging modes, solar diversion and tariff support are the same, so most customers choose the GLO unless they want the display.

Do I need solar to have a Zappi?

No, but it is the reason to choose one. Without solar the Zappi works as a normal smart charger on Intelligent Octopus Go, and the Ohme does that for less.

What does the eddi do?

The eddi diverts surplus solar into your immersion heater, so the hot water is heated before the car is charged (or after; you set the priority). It is a common add-on for homes with a hot water cylinder.

Does it need Wi-Fi?

Yes, Wi-Fi (or Ethernet on the v2.1). There is no 4G option. The harvi wireless sensor avoids running a CT cable to the meter if the meter is a long way from the charger.

Is the app really that bad?

It is rated 4.1 on Trustpilot against 4.7 to 4.8 for Ohme and Hypervolt, with complaints about reliability and support. In our experience it works, but if a polished app matters more to you than solar diversion, pick the Hypervolt.
