How we write our guides
The guides on this site exist to help you decide, whether or not you buy from us. These are the standards every one of them is held to.
1
Signed off by the person who runs Newpower
Every guide carries Joe Sales's name, and he reads and signs off each one before it goes live. None of it is bought in from a content agency.
2
Checked against job records
When a guide says a three-bed semi typically needs a certain size of system, or that an install takes a day, that comes from our own job sheets and commissioning records in South Yorkshire, not from a national average. Where we use an outside source we say which one.
3
Dated, and kept current
Each guide shows when it was last reviewed. Prices, grants, VAT rules and tariff names change; we re-check every guide at least twice a year and immediately when a scheme changes. If the date is more than a year old, tell us.
4
AI tools may be used for drafting
We use AI writing tools to draft, tidy and restructure text. We do not publish anything Joe has not read and corrected, and every number, price, product spec and rule is verified by a person against the source before it goes live. A draft is a draft; the named author is responsible for what is published.
5
Every figure is verified
Anything we cannot verify is left out rather than guessed. Product specifications come from the manufacturer's current datasheet. Grant and VAT figures come from gov.uk. Tariff details come from the supplier's own pages on the date shown.
6
Honest about what we sell
We install the products in our guides and we say so. Where something is not the right answer for a house, including doing nothing yet, the guide says that plainly. We do not take payment for placement in a guide.
Corrections
If you find something wrong in a guide, email info@newpoweruk.co.uk with the page and the line. We correct the page, update the reviewed date and, where the error was material, add a note saying what changed.
