What it costs to have one fitted

after the £7,500 grant, 0% VAT

Installed price covers the heat pump, cylinder, controls, pipework, radiator changes as designed, removal of the old boiler, MCS paperwork and the grant claimed for you.

What moves it: the heat loss of the house, how many radiators the design says have to change, where the cylinder goes, and what has to happen to the pipework. The room-by-room survey settles all four.

Why the Vaillant aroTHERM plus

  • Keeps your radiators

A 75°C flow temperature means it can heat an existing radiator system on the coldest day. Where an older home cannot change radiators, this is the pump we reach for.

  • R290 and efficient

Propane refrigerant with a very low global warming potential and strong efficiency even at high flow temperatures. Runs at low temperatures too, where it is cheapest.

  • A boiler brand you know

Vaillant has made boilers for 150 years. The uniTOWER combines the cylinder and hydraulics in one boiler-sized cabinet, and the myVAILLANT app and controls will be familiar.

Two ways an aroTHERM plus replaces your boiler

High-temperature retrofit

Keep the radiators and pipework, swap the boiler for the aroTHERM plus and a cylinder. The quickest heat pump install we do, and often the only option in a terrace with no wall space for bigger radiators.

Low-temperature design

Upsize a few radiators and run the pump cooler for the best efficiency. Lower running cost over the years; the survey shows you both numbers.

Pick the aroTHERM plus when the radiators have to stay or you want the smallest indoor footprint with the uniTOWER. The Ecodan is the quiet, proven alternative; the Altherma offers the widest choice of sizes. All three get the grant and the same design process.

Tariff pairing: Cosy Octopus

Cosy Octopus gives cheap windows through the day and evening. We set the aroTHERM's controller to heat the cylinder and pre-warm the house in those windows, which brings the running cost below gas for most homes.

Questions about the Vaillant aroTHERM plus.

How much does a Vaillant aroTHERM plus cost installed?

A three-bed is typically between £12,000 and £17,000 before the grant, so between £4,500 and £9,500 after £7,500 comes off. The firm price follows the heat loss survey.

Can I really keep my radiators?

Usually. At 75°C flow the aroTHERM plus can drive most existing radiator systems on the coldest day. The heat loss survey confirms it room by room, and if one or two radiators are undersized we say so.

Which size do I need?

Most three-bed semis need the 5 or 7 kW; larger or older homes the 10 or 12 kW. We size from the heat loss survey, never from the boiler that is coming out.

Is R290 safe?

Yes. R290 is propane, used in millions of fridges and heat pumps. The charge is small and sealed in the outdoor unit, and the installation follows the manufacturer's clearance rules.

What is the uniTOWER?

A floor-standing indoor unit that houses the hot water cylinder, pump and expansion vessel in one cabinet about the size of a fridge-freezer. It replaces the separate cylinder and pipework and keeps the install tidy.

How long is the warranty?

Vaillant's own warranty, which runs longer when the unit is installed and registered by an accredited installer. We register it for you, and our workmanship warranty sits on top.
