Solar panel installers for Grimsby.
Grimsby is a town of terraces and semis: two homes in three are one or the other, and nearly a third are terraced, well above the 23% across England. Almost all of it is on mains gas, so the usual starting point here is panels and a battery, with a heat pump when the boiler is due. Unlike Lincoln and most of the county, Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham are on Northern Powergrid's network, and we deal with them for you.
Every install is MCS certified (NAP-75287), with 0% VAT on solar, batteries and heat pumps until March 2027 and the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant claimed for you.

Near Grimsby.
We cover Grimsby and everywhere around it. A few of the places nearby, and what tends to matter there.
Cleethorpes
DN35 · North East Lincolnshire Council
The resort at the mouth of the Humber, with conservation areas along the Central Seafront and around Mill Road, where an Article 4 direction removes some permitted development rights. Panels on a rear slope are usually straightforward; front slopes in those areas get checked first.
Immingham
DN40 · North East Lincolnshire Council
A town that grew up around the dock opened in 1912, now part of one of the country's busiest ports. Most of its housing came later, on simple roofs with little shading, which suits a full array and a battery.
Laceby
DN37 · North East Lincolnshire Council
A village on the western edge of the borough where the A46 meets the A18, with two conservation areas: the old village centre and Cottagers Plot. Outside them, the newer houses on the village edges are simple roofs to work with.
Waltham
DN37 · North East Lincolnshire Council
South of Grimsby, with a six-sailed windmill and a conservation area of its own around the village centre. Where the garden allows, a heat pump sited well away from the boundary keeps any noise away from the neighbours.

The houses here, and what works on them
The Victorian terraces of the East and West Marsh and the streets off Freeman Street were built for the docks and the fishing trade: long, narrow roofs, often split by a rear outrigger. One slope of panels and a battery charged overnight is the usual design. Around People's Park and Bargate the houses are bigger and older trees cast shade across the roofs, so we model the shading rather than guess.
Further out, Scartho, Nunsthorpe, the Willows and Wybers Wood are mostly semis and estate houses on simple gabled roofs, with gardens that can take a heat pump. With 84% of homes on gas and only 4% heated by electricity alone, a battery and a smart tariff pay their way now, and a heat pump is the next step when the boiler goes.
Planning and conservation areas
North East Lincolnshire Council has 17 conservation areas and six Article 4 directions. In Grimsby the conservation areas include Central Grimsby, Wellow, Holme Hill, Scartho, Old Clee, Great Coates, Victoria Mills and the Kasbah by the docks; the Article 4 directions include Abbey Road and Great Coates, Mill Road in Cleethorpes and the Humberston Fitties.
In a conservation area, roof panels are normally still permitted development, but panels on a front wall and a heat pump on the front of the house need consent, and an Article 4 direction can bring the roof under control too. Elsewhere, and away from listed buildings, roof solar, batteries and air source heat pumps are permitted development on most houses. We check your address at the survey and make the application if one is needed.
What the figures say about Grimsby homes.
What the public data says about homes here, and what it means for yours.
1,028 kWh
a year from each kW of panels
A south-facing roof at 35° in central Grimsby, after losses, slightly more than central Lincoln. East and west roofs give between a fifth and a quarter less over the year, which a battery offsets by moving the surplus into the evening.

32%
of homes are terraced
Against 23% across England, with another 35% semi-detached. A terrace usually takes one slope of panels, and with no side access the battery goes indoors, so we plan the cable run through the house before anything goes on the roof.

84%
of homes heated by mains gas alone
Only 0.6% burn oil, against one home in five in neighbouring East Lindsey. A heat pump here replaces a gas boiler, with the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, and the sums work best when the boiler is due for replacement anyway.

27%
of households have no car or van
More than one in four, against 23% across England. For those homes the gain is in panels and a battery; where there is a drive, an EV charger set to the cheap overnight hours is the next step.

What Grimsby homeowners ask us.
Who runs the electricity network in Grimsby?
Northern Powergrid, not National Grid. Its Yorkshire licence area reaches across the Humber to cover Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Immingham and the villages around them. A typical home system is notified to them after the install under G98; a bigger inverter or a large battery needs a G99 application first, which can take several weeks. We make the application and deal with them; you do not need to contact them yourself.
I live off Mill Road in Cleethorpes. Can I have solar panels?
Usually, yes, but Mill Road is a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, so panels on a slope facing the road may need planning consent. Rear slopes are often fine. We check your house against the council's conservation area and Article 4 maps at the survey and, if consent is needed, prepare and submit the application.
My Grimsby house is on gas. Is a heat pump worth it?
It can be, especially when the boiler is near the end of its life. The £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant comes off the price up front, and terraces and semis are often easier to heat than people expect because the neighbours share the walls. We size it from a room-by-room heat loss survey and tell you plainly if solar and a battery would do more for you first.
Can I charge an electric car at home without a drive?
A home charger needs a parking space on your own property, such as a drive or a rear yard with access. Without one, panels and a battery still cut the bill, and more than a quarter of households here have no car at all.
Do you cover Immingham, Humberston and the villages?
Yes: the whole of North East Lincolnshire, from Immingham and Healing to Humberston, New Waltham and the villages towards the Wolds. We fit anywhere in the country, so if your postcode is just outside, put it in anyway.
