What it costs to have one fitted
0% VAT until March 2027
The installed price covers the panels, a battery-ready hybrid inverter, scaffold, the DNO application, and the MCS and SEG paperwork.
What moves it: the roof covering, how many pitches we work across, what the scaffold has to reach, and the cable run down to the consumer unit.
We give you a figure at the visit and put it in writing. Finance is available; Newpower Advanced Ltd is a credit broker, not a lender (FCA FRN 1037988).
Why the LONGi Hi-MO X10
More watts from the same roof
Today's ratings from a standard 54-cell panel mean ten panels make close to 5 kWp where an older 400 W panel needed twelve. On a small semi or a roof with a chimney, two fewer panels is the difference between fitting and not.
Back-contact cell
The Hi-MO X10 uses LONGi's HPBC (hybrid passivated back contact) cell: the contacts sit on the rear, so the front has no busbars to shade the cell or spoil the look. It also keeps more of its output when part of the panel is shaded.
A manufacturer that will still be here
LONGi is one of the largest panel makers in the world, with UK warranty support. Long warranties only matter if the company is around to honour them, and that is why we fit LONGi rather than the cheapest module in the wholesaler's list.
Two ways to spec the panels
On-roof, the standard install
Panels on rails above the tiles, with bird protection. The quickest and cheapest way to fit them, and the right choice for most concrete-tile roofs in Rotherham and Sheffield.
In-roof, for a new roof or a re-roof
Panels sit flush in place of the tiles on a tray system. Neater, and it saves the tiles, so it is the route when the roof is being replaced or the house is new-build.

| Our take | The default | The all-black option | The budget option |
LONGi and Aiko are the two back-contact panels UK buyers compare, and on a Yorkshire roof the difference in annual output between them is small. We fit the Hi-MO X10 as standard because of the output per panel, the price and LONGi's size as a manufacturer, and the Aiko Neostar all-black where the look of the array matters more than the last few pounds. A TOPCon panel such as the Jinko Tiger Neo is the budget route: visible busbars and slightly lower output, but a sound panel. Ask for either and we will price it side by side.
What ten of these make in South Yorkshire
Ten Hi-MO X10 panels make 4.8 kWp, and a well-placed South Yorkshire roof produces roughly 950 to 1,000 kWh a year for every kWp, so about 4,500 kWh a year. Use it first, store the surplus in a battery, and export the rest under the Smart Export Guarantee. Pair the array with Octopus Flux and a battery and the evening export is paid at the peak rate.

Questions about the LONGi Hi-MO X10.
LONGi or Aiko: which panel should I choose?
Both are back-contact panels with no busbars on the front, and both make a similar amount of electricity on a South Yorkshire roof. We fit LONGi as standard: a keener price and the backing of one of the largest manufacturers in the world. Aiko's Neostar is the pick if you want an all-black array and are happy to pay a little more for it. Neither is a bad choice, and we will price both for your roof.
How much do LONGi panels cost installed?
Solar with a battery starts from £6,995 installed for a smaller system with a compact battery, and ten Hi-MO X10 panels making 4.8 kWp with a 5.12 kWh battery start from £9,000, both at 0% VAT until March 2027. The price moves with the number of panels, roof access and whether you add a battery, and you get a quote in writing after the visit.
What does back-contact mean?
On a conventional panel the metal ribbons that collect the current run across the front of each cell and shade a little of it. A back-contact cell moves them to the rear, so the whole front face collects light and the panel looks plain. LONGi calls its version HPBC; Aiko calls its version ABC.
How many panels do I need?
Ten is our most common install and suits a two or three-bed home with daytime use. A larger home or one with an EV or heat pump usually goes to twelve or fourteen if the roof allows. The survey models your roof and your usage and the design shows the generation for each option.
What is the warranty?
LONGi's product warranty covers the panel itself for 25 years and the performance warranty guarantees a minimum output for 30 years, on top of Newpower's own workmanship warranty. We register the manufacturer warranty for you at handover.
Will they work in a Yorkshire winter?
Yes, at a lower output. Panels make electricity from daylight, not heat, and a cold bright day is good for them. December output is roughly a fifth of June's, which is why the annual figure and a battery matter more than any one month.
