Solar panel installers for Burton upon Trent.
Burton is a brewing town of Victorian terraces and semis on the flat land beside the Trent, with newer estates spreading out to Branston and Stretton. It is in Staffordshire, but its electricity network is in National Grid's East Midlands area, the same as Derby. Across the river in South Derbyshire, Swadlincote and its villages have more detached houses and more two-car households, which brings EV chargers into the conversation.
Every install is MCS certified (NAP-75287), with 0% VAT on solar, batteries and heat pumps until March 2027 and the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant claimed for you.

Near Burton upon Trent.
We cover Burton upon Trent and everywhere around it. A few of the places nearby, and what tends to matter there.
Swadlincote
DE11 · South Derbyshire District Council
A former pottery and mining town, with a bottle kiln and terracotta buildings in its centre. Its conservation area carries an Article 4 direction covering most alterations, so road-facing panels there are checked first; the estates around Woodville, Newhall and Church Gresley are simpler roofs.
Stretton
DE13 · East Staffordshire Borough Council
On Burton's northern edge towards the River Dove, beside the Trent and Mersey Canal and the Victorian pumping station at Claymills. Where a house has a drive, an EV charger fits naturally alongside panels and a battery.
Barton-under-Needwood
DE13 · East Staffordshire Borough Council
A large village south-west of Burton, off the A38, with a conservation area around its old centre. Outside that boundary, solar and a heat pump are usually permitted development, and any oil-heated home on the village edges qualifies for the higher grant.

Burton upon Trent homes, and what suits them
Burton's Victorian terraces grew up with the breweries, in Shobnall, Horninglow and the streets around the town centre, and across the river in Stapenhill and Winshill. One slope of panels and a battery indoors is the usual design; where the best slope faces east or west, the yield is about a fifth lower, and a battery is what makes it pay.
Newer estates at Branston, Stretton and around Swadlincote have simple roofs and drives, which suit a full array, a battery and an EV charger. The Trent Washlands run through the middle of the town, so homes near the river get a flood-risk check before we decide where the battery and inverter go.
Planning and conservation areas
East Staffordshire Borough Council has 25 conservation areas and three Article 4 areas. In Burton they include the town centre, Clarence Street and Anglesey Road, George Street, Station Street and Borough Road, Horninglow Street and Guild Street, King Edward Place and the Trent and Mersey Canal, with Barton under Needwood, Rolleston on Dove and Tutbury among the villages.
Across the Trent, South Derbyshire has 22 conservation areas and Article 4 directions in Swadlincote, Melbourne, Ticknall and Shardlow. In those places, roof panels are normally still permitted development, but panels on a front wall or a heat pump on the front of the house need consent, and an Article 4 direction can bring the roof under control too; we check at the survey and make the application if one is needed. Elsewhere, roof solar, batteries and air source heat pumps are permitted development on most houses.

Questions from Burton upon Trent.
Is Burton on the West Midlands or the East Midlands electricity network?
The East Midlands. Much of Staffordshire is in National Grid Electricity Distribution's West Midlands area, but Burton and the villages around it, like Swadlincote across the county line, are in its East Midlands area. A typical home system is notified after the install under G98; a bigger inverter or a large battery needs a G99 application first, which can take several weeks. We make the application and deal with them for you.
I live in Swadlincote's conservation area. Can I have solar panels?
Usually, but Swadlincote's conservation area has an Article 4 direction that brings most alterations under planning control, so panels on a slope facing the road are likely to need consent. Rear slopes are often simpler. We check your house against the council's boundary at the survey and, if consent is needed, prepare and submit the application.
I live near the Trent. Does that change anything?
Not whether you can have solar, but it does change where things go. We check the flood risk for your address and site the battery and inverter where water would not reach them, which can mean upstairs or high on a wall rather than in a garage or utility room.
Is a heat pump worth it in a Burton terrace on gas?
Often, yes, and the best time is when the boiler is due anyway. The £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant comes off the price up front. In a terrace the questions are where the outdoor unit goes, usually the back yard, and whether a few radiators need to be bigger; the heat loss survey answers the second, and we look at the yard on the same visit.
Do you cover Uttoxeter, Tutbury and the South Derbyshire villages?
Yes: Burton, the whole of East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire, from Uttoxeter and Tutbury to Swadlincote, Repton and Melbourne. We fit anywhere in the country, so if your postcode is not listed, put it in anyway.

What the public data says about homes here, and what it means for yours.
967 kWh
a year from each kW of panels
A south-facing roof at 35° in central Burton, after losses. An east or west roof gives about a fifth less, and a battery makes the most of it by carrying the morning or afternoon surplus into the evening.

55%
of East Staffordshire homes are semis or terraces
33% semi-detached and 23% terraced, close to the national mix. Detached houses make up 33% here and 41% across the river in South Derbyshire, where the bigger roofs take a larger array.

4.7%
of East Staffordshire homes run on oil
Against 3.2% across England and 3.4% in South Derbyshire. Oil and LPG homes in the villages around Burton qualify for the higher £9,000 grant, and they are where a heat pump pays back fastest.

Half
of South Derbyshire households run two or more cars
50%, against 42% in East Staffordshire and 35% across England. Two cars on the drive and a roof of panels is the home where a smart EV charger earns its place.
