Sunsynk inverters
The inverter installers pick when a system has something unusual about it, because it will talk to almost anything.

Why people ask for Sunsynk by name
Sunsynk has a reputation among installers rather than among customers, and that tells you what it is good at. The hybrid inverters are flexible: they will work with batteries from several manufacturers, handle a generator input, cope with three-phase, and be configured in ways that a more locked-down system simply will not allow.
That matters on jobs that are not a standard semi. A farmhouse with a generator, a property with an existing array on a different inverter, a workshop with three-phase coming in, a house where the battery has to go somewhere awkward. These are the jobs where a rigid ecosystem says no and a Sunsynk says yes.
On an ordinary three-bed with a clean roof, the flexibility is capability you are not using. We would usually specify something simpler. Where the job has a wrinkle in it, this is what we reach for.
- Hybrid inverters that work with several battery manufacturers
- Handles three-phase supplies and generator inputs
- Well supported in the UK, with a large installed base
- Zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027 as part of a storage install
The full Sunsynk range
We fit the whole Sunsynk range, single and three phase, in every size they make. The three below are the situations the range tends to get specified for.
Roughly how the range maps onto real houses:
Single-phase homes
An ordinary house with an unusual requirement somewhere in it.
- Arrangement
- Hybrid inverter with a battery of our choosing
- Strength
- Configurable where other systems are fixed
- Solar
- Works with an existing array or a new one
- Grid
- G98 or G99 handled for you
Three-phase properties
Larger houses, farms and small commercial units.
- Arrangement
- Three-phase hybrid, balanced across the phases
- Why it matters
- Most domestic kit is single-phase only
- Typical sites
- Farms, workshops, larger detached
- Grid
- G99 as standard at this size
Off-grid and backup-heavy
Rural supplies where the power genuinely does go off.
- Arrangement
- Generator input and backup configured together
- Strength
- Designed for it rather than retrofitted to it
- Sizing
- From the loads you need to keep running
- Note
- Tell us at survey; it changes the whole design
How Sunsynk compares
| Sunsynk | A single-ecosystem system | A basic string inverter | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery compatibility | Several manufacturers | One, by design | None without adding a battery inverter |
| Three-phase | Yes | Sometimes | Rarely on domestic kit |
| Generator input | Yes | No | No |
| Configurability | High | Deliberately limited | Low |
| Best for | Jobs with something unusual about them | A straightforward house, one app | Panels only, no storage |
The honest verdict
Why we fit a lot of them
- Will talk to kit that a closed ecosystem refuses, which is what saves an awkward job
- Genuine three-phase options, where most domestic equipment stops at single phase
- Generator and off-grid capability designed in rather than bolted on
- A big enough installed base in the UK that support and parts are not a worry
What to weigh up
- On a standard house the flexibility is capability you will never use, and simpler kit is easier to live with
- More configurable means more that can be set up badly; it needs an installer who knows it, which is an argument for asking who is actually doing the work
- A battery makes no electricity, so without a cheap tariff window or solar the sums are weak whatever the inverter
- Three-phase and generator work push a job into G99 territory, which adds weeks to the timeline
Questions we get asked about Sunsynk
Why would I choose Sunsynk?
Usually because your job has something unusual in it: three-phase, a generator, an existing array on another inverter, or a backup requirement that is more than a token. On a straightforward house we would normally specify something simpler.
Does it work with other batteries?
That is the main reason installers like it. It is compatible with several battery manufacturers rather than locking you to one, which is useful on a retrofit where the battery has to suit the space.
Can it run my house off-grid?
It has genuine off-grid and generator capability, which most domestic hybrids do not. Whether it makes sense for your property is a design question, and it changes the whole specification, so tell us at the survey.
Is it good for a normal semi?
It will do the job perfectly well. We would usually put in something with a simpler app and fewer settings, because on a standard house that is a better thing to live with for fifteen years.
What about the warranty?
Sunsynk's own warranty on the inverter and the battery, which we register for you, plus our workmanship warranty on the installation.
