Why people ask for EcoFlow by name

Most people know EcoFlow from its portable power stations. PowerOcean is its whole-home system: a hybrid inverter and battery modules that are fitted to the house, wired into your consumer unit and run alongside your solar panels or on a cheap overnight tariff.

The battery is modular, so it can be sized to how you actually use electricity rather than to a single fixed capacity, and more modules can be added later if your use goes up, for example when an electric car arrives.

We fit it as a complete system, set it up on your tariff before we leave, and register it so the warranty is in your name. It goes in with new solar or on its own.

  • Hybrid inverter and battery designed as one system
  • Modular battery, so capacity can be added later
  • Works with solar panels or on its own on an off-peak tariff
  • Monitored and controlled from EcoFlow's app

The full EcoFlow range

We fit the whole EcoFlow PowerOcean range, in every battery size. The three below are the arrangements most jobs fall into.

Roughly how the range maps onto real houses:

The house through the expensive daytime hours

The honest verdict

Why we fit a lot of them

  • Modular, so you are not paying for capacity you will not use
  • Inverter and battery from one manufacturer, so responsibility is not split
  • Fits with new solar or on its own on a cheap overnight tariff
  • A well-known brand with UK distribution and support

What to weigh up

  • Check the quote states usable capacity in kWh, not just the module count
  • Backup in a power cut is not automatic with every set-up; if you want it, make sure the quote says which circuits are covered
  • Make sure the quote includes the inverter, the battery modules, the isolation and the programming for your tariff
  • Ask where the battery will go; it needs a suitable wall or floor space with access for servicing

Questions we get asked about EcoFlow

Is this the same as an EcoFlow power station?

No. The power stations are portable. PowerOcean is fixed to the house, wired into your consumer unit by our electricians and registered with the network operator, like any other home battery.

Do I need solar panels?

No. On its own it charges overnight on a cheap tariff and runs the house through the day. With solar panels it also stores your afternoon surplus for the evening.

Can I add more batteries later?

Yes, the battery is modular. We check at the survey which modules your inverter supports and leave room for them, so adding capacity later is a simple job.

Will it keep the house running in a power cut?

It can, but not every installation is set up for it. If backup matters to you, say so at the survey and the quote will show which circuits are covered.

Is there VAT on it?

Home batteries are zero-rated for VAT until March 2027, whether or not they go in with solar.
